Hello there, and welcome to the land of Cranium Bolts! I'm Shiju Sugunan, a self-proclaimed expert at pointing and clicking buttons. That's right, I am into photography as a hobby!
I am an avid birdwatcher and that makes me pretty good at keeping a low profile and staying quiet.
When I'm not sneaking up on unsuspecting birds, I'm busy taking photos of pretty much everything else.
As an introvert, I find that blogging is the perfect way to express myself without actually having to talk to anyone. Plus, photography gives me an excuse to wear my cool photographer vest and pretend like I know what I'm doing.
Aside from my photography skills, I'm also a pro at binge-watching TV shows, procrastinating, and avoiding adult responsibilities. I mean, who needs to pay bills when you have a camera, right?
By day, I'm a mild-mannered IT professional, spending my days in front of a computer screen, trying to make sense of all the jumbled code. It's not the most glamorous job, but it pays the bills (most of the time). And besides, it gives me plenty of time to daydream about playing the guitar (badly).
When I'm not working or taking photos, you can usually find me reading a book, writing, or painting.
I live in Bangalore with my lovely wife and two sons, who are my biggest fans (or so they tell me). Through this blog, I hope to share my love for photography with the world. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show – it's gonna be a wild ride!
Shiju, super! Love your resume! Love your pics. What camera do you shoot with? I see exactly me in you! I shoot Sony A9ii. My cousin mentioned Jakkur lake to photoshoot birds! Tomorrow, Jun 26th I am planning at 5:30 am if weather permits! YourSureShot.com IG - @YourSureShot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words! I shoot with a Canon 6D and love it. Jakkur lake is great for bird photography. 5:30am sounds like a great time to go. Hope you had a productive morning. I'll keep an eye out for your posts.
DeleteBeautiful photo . I like to see photos of different countries.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it!
DeleteOf course Shiju.
DeleteLoved your pictures. Which lens do you use mainly for bird photography with the 6D?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words about my photos. I mainly use the Tamron 150-600mm G2 for bird photography. I'm curious why you decided to comment anonymously. Would you like to share your name so we can get to know each other better?
DeleteHi Shiju
ReplyDeleteVery nice blog and happy that I came across your page because we have similar things across. I am also from IT and avid birder doing bird photography and then getting involved in Conservation
I am looking out for some guidance in doing some birding around Bangalore and looking to join a small group which foes around bird photography during weekend.
If its not feasible, please let me know about few hotspots around BTM Lay out
Thanks a lot
Hey Ramkee,
DeleteThanks for reaching out and for the kind words about the blog! It's great to connect with another IT professional who's also passionate about birds and conservation.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm more of a solo birder, and my usual spots are closer to my residence, mainly around Hoskote and Saul Kere.
Regarding hotspots near BTM Layout, I haven't personally explored Agara Lake or Turahalli Tree Park yet, but I've heard they can be quite good for birding. You might find some local birding groups like BNGbirds who organize weekend photography outings in those areas. It could be worth checking them out!
Happy birding!
