Of birds, butterflies and broccoli

Sunday morning birding trip to Hoskote lake was most enjoyable. Wife joined me and we got back home with photos and lots of fresh broccoli and zucchini from the farms. Here's a photo tour...

A Painted Stork was on a fishing expedition. We watched its many tries with fingers crossed...





It was a tale of patience and perseverance...





And the fish was caught...







The final gulp and joy on its face...


It flew away after the meal...

There are many vegetable farms around Hoskote lake. We spent some time with the farm workers who offered us their fresh produce of broccoli and zucchini...

Everybody seemed to hit the jackpot...

Birds of Kasavanahalli lake

Saturday morning was spent exploring birds at the beautiful Kasavanahalli lake in Bangalore. Here are the birds and blooms that caught my eye...


An Asian Openbill stork...

Brahminy Kite...


Indian Spot-billed Duck...











It was nice to feel the wind blowing off the water and hear the bird calls. Here's a video...


Black-winged stilts were wading in search of food...

A Coppersmith Barbet was busy eating berries...








This little fellow was also looking extremely busy...

As I was admiring the water lilies, I observed a Eurasian Coot  doing the same...


It went a step ahead and bit off a petal...
