Here’s a photo story of my visit to Hoskote lake, last weekend. It was a magical experience, come, join me…
...
I reached the lake just a few minutes before sunrise…
...
The moon was shining bright…
...
The sun peeks over the hazy horizon…
...
The lake is slowly bathed in a warm and golden light…
...
The stillness of the water is broken by the floating birds…
...
...
As the sun rises higher in the sky, its rays begin to penetrate the trees and plants…
...
The bird world slowly comes to life…
...
There is no dearth of Large Gray Babblers. I clicked several pics while they indulged in their typical lively and noisy behavior…
...
A Coppersmith Barbet was seen with its meal…
...
A Plain Prinia shows up…
...
My attention was drawn to a Pale-billed flowerpecker. I could capture the flutter of wings as it darts away…
...
I caught a glimpse of colorful feathers which turned out to be of a Gray-bellied Cuckoo…
...
Flight shot of a Coppersmith Barbet…
...
A White-cheeked Barbet made an appearance next…
...
An Indian Golden Oriole was active too…
...
A male Indian Robin marked his presence…
...
A male Asian Koel sat still on a distant tree…
...
A Glossy Ibis gleamed as the sun warmed up…
...
An Asian Green Bee-eater looked for a bee to pass by…
...
A Jacobin Cuckoo sat hidden in the thorny branches…
...
I waited for it to come out in the open…
...
Then it fluttered away…
...
A Booted Warbler was found while I scanned the trees for signs of movement…
...
Another scan of the trees revealed the silhouette of a weevil caught by an Indian Golden Oriole…
...
I took several shots of the Oriole as it revealed itself between the light and shadows…
...
I concluded the trip and returned home excitedly to review the day’s images. Looking forward to the next trip. Hope you liked the post. Do share your thoughts…

Hi Shiju, I love the way you designed this post and, as always, you have included so many wonderful shots! I could write a great big paragraph about which images are my favorites. 😊 I have two questions I hope you will answer here or on my blog. 1. What is your go-to camera and what kind of lens are you using for your wonderful bird close-ups? And 2. Within Blogger, which “Theme” are you using? I love the way you have the large images with commentary between the pics. Thanks, as always, for sharing your wonderful blog. John
ReplyDeleteHi John,
DeleteHere are the answers to your queries:
1. I bought a Canon 6D years back. It is now many generations old. Modern cameras have better features but this camera serves my purpose. I use a Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens. It is less expensive and good but definitely nowhere near the quality that Canon lenses give.
2. I use the ‘Simple Simply Simple’ theme which is available in the ‘Simple’ category of free themes in blogger. I have customized it by tweaking the code.
Thank you Shiju for answering my questions. I admire your photography setup. Have a great week ahead! John
Delete...Shiju, of course you captured many beautiful images, but your dreamy golden hour images are my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteImages of dawn breaking are sheer poetry! And the birds photos just wowsome!
ReplyDeleteEvery post of yours introduces me to new birds or to birds I have only seen once far away from my home. Such beautiful images! The diversity of birdlife is inspiring, and I keep hoping that the predictions of loss of. habitat and species won’t come true.
