Here’s a Valentine’s Day post from Kannamangala lake. Yes, birds never miss a chance to renew or perhaps find new love. Read on…
...
A banyan tree, sky and the lake. A lovely setting…
...
A Little Egret congregation invited my attention…
...
There’s always one who likes to be a bit away from the crowd and enjoy solitude…
...
An Indian Pond Heron…
...
A Little grebe…
...
A Grey Heron…
...
A lone Painted Stork…
...
A Grey Hornbill was hidden in the foliage…
...
He made love with his partner. Grey Hornbills stay with the same partner all their life…
...
An Indian Pond Heron caught my attention. He was looking for unwary fishes from his elevated perch…
...
He gets excited on spotting one…
...
Aims and attacks like a dart…
...
A fish is caught…
...
A White-throated Kingfisher…
...
A male Purple-rumped Sunbird…
...
A Cormorant drying itself…
...
A Black-headed Cuckooshrike whistled his long pee-pe-pe-pe-pe-twe-twee song. The mating call is most attractive and I’m sure he will find his partner soon…
...
...
...
A male Purple Sunbird was seen in his most attractive breeding plumage…
...
...
Cinereous Tits are so quick-flitting birds that you get only two hardly presentable pics from about 50 clicks…
...
...
A pair of brightly colored and strongly scented Cannonball flowers…
...
It was a White-browed Wagtail's turn to sing his long and loud mating song with many different notes…
...
Great Cormorant is a ‘food lover’. He caught a huge Tilapia fish…
...
...
...
A Brahminy kite tries to steal the Tilapia but is a bit late…
...
A Little Grebe mother and child (with a yellow bill)...
...
...
Some pen friends…
...
...
A lady Indian Golden Oriole…
...
I watched the courting behavior of a Great Cormorant couple…
...
Wishing you a happy Valentine’s day, filled with things you love!
Your passion into bird photography is truly palpable and intense. Feeding on fishes seem to be a little brutal there
ReplyDeleteAs always priceless. Good work again.
ReplyDeleteAmazing place, Loved all pics, Fantastic
ReplyDeleteThanks for another birdy adventure with you - boy that was a big fish the bird ate.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and a lovely Valentine's Day post!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images Shiju, the pictures are the Indian Pond Heron, absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I am stunned!
ReplyDeleteIncredible photography, Shiju!
I especially love the shots of the Great Cormorant with a fish in its mouth.
The Grey heron and first picture is absolute stunner. I have been trying to capture Indian Grey hornbill, need to find ideal spot for that. Back Home, I find it difficult to snap Malabar pied hornbills due to their shy nature. Sometimes I get lucky, hope that happens with grey hornbill as well
ReplyDeleteIncredible photos. That series of the cormorant trying to eat the tilapia is amazing. I remember my first live cormorant a few years ago in New Orleans. Such ancient, unlikely birds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great series of photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Purple Sunbird is really super beautiful.
The cormorant eats a very large fish.
I enjoyed all the photos.
Greetings Irma
Beautiful! The Purple Sunbird is stunning!

ReplyDeleteAwesome as usual.

Great photos again Shiju. I think all of the rain earlier in your year created lots of photo opps for herons and egrets. Love the Indian Pond Heron and the waay it's caught that tiny fish. And the cormorant with the somewhat larger fish
ReplyDeleteI had to show photos to my hubby in this post. We loved the one of the BIG fish being eaten! How amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Shiju, Wow, what amazing pics of the Great Cormorant enjoying a Tilapia. I wonder if this will cause the bird to reconsider such large bites? 😊 As always, lots of neat photos … a great Valentines post! John
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos! I've never seen a water fowl eat such a large fish. Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteI like the grebe with its reflection. And wonderful photos of the Indian Pond heron fishing!

ReplyDeleteWow- your bird photos are amazing! We have a lot of birds in our back yard- Northern Flickers, Northern Chickadees, Stellar Jays, Robins, a few Mallards will swim in our seasonal creek, Goldfinches, Bush tits and other wee little birds. Plus a Coopers Hawk, a Redtail Hawk and even a Bald Eagle comes by sometimes. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I'm quite amazed the bird was able to swallow that tilapia; the fish seemed nearly as large.
ReplyDeleteThese shots are amazing, particularly the fish being caught! #wwandpics
