Short trip to Hoskote

This trip was a very short one due to the flooding of the path near Hoskote lake. Here are the pics I could click...
...
A wedge of Glossy Ibises do a flypast above the lake...

...

...
The inundated path cut off major part of the birding area...
...
Morning glory blooms...
...
An ant hill tower...
...
The rain drops on grass made great bokeh...
...
An Immature Brown Shrike was looking cute...
...
I saw a White-cheeked Barbet perched on a dry tree...
...
I watched it for a while, chiseling a nest cavity with its bill...
...
It usually uses a dry tree trunk to excavate nest cavities...

...
The powerful excavation and flying fragments...

...
Next I saw a migrant Common Cuckoo...
...
An Indian Pond-heron...
...
Caught a male Ditch Jewel dragonfly in flight...
...
The lake and its surroundings...
...
Closeup of a migrant Glossy Ibis...

...
That's it from the lake. It looks like it will take a month for the water to recede. I am planning to visit some other nearby lakes in the meanwhile.

Here are some fresh blooms from my garden....

Aster...
...
Sweet william...
...
Hope I will see more variety of birds from the planned trips to other lakes. Please post a comment if you liked the post...

Wonderful birds. The heron is awesome, and beautiful color pattern on the cuckoo. Enjoyed seeing the series of building the nest in the tree cavity.

  19. The towering anthill, as prosaic as it may be, is my favorite shot this week. Thanks for noticing something that many people would simply pass by without a glance.
