Gulakamale in Bangalore has got some beautiful scenery amid the stunning surroundings of a lake. The birds I found here were visually pleasing too. Here's a photo tour...
Sunrise was a treat in the misty morning...
A common kingfisher was the first sighting of the day. It is a misleading name for a bird which is very rarely seen...
The scenic road next to the lake...
Indian robin (male)...
Indian robin (female)...
White-throated kingfisher...
Tawny Coster butterfly...
More sightings of the Common kingfisher. Here's the male...
The female is identical in appearance to the male except that her lower mandible is orange-red...
Pied Bushchat (female)...
Pied bushchat (male)...
Another Common kingfisher flew in with a small fish...
Blue-faced malkoha...
I spent some time at the Thottikallu falls (TK falls) which is just a mile or so away from the lake...
I hope you liked the post. Do let me know your feedback in the comments section below...
I am amazed at how you capture birds so clearly. There is nothing common about the Common Kingfisher (ha ha I had to say that). They are so pretty and remind me of the book I read recently, Kingfisher Catches Fire by Rumer Godden, set in Kashmir.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - that sunset is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh, those kingfishers are absolutely stunning. Lovely photos. I also really like the close up of the butterfly. Thank you for such a bright note in the day!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds, water, and sky! So colorful...what a wonderful walk! I do not like it when birds are called “common” anything! Especially one like that beautiful Kingfisher. We see a couple kinds of that bird and they are very hard to photograph!
