Vanilla in the main meal

Vanille Salée or Salty Vanilla is a new promotion at all Mövenpick Hotels around the world. I was at Mövenpick Hotel & Spa in Bangalore to experience the Salty Vanilla menu. 

Here's a photo tour of the six Vanilla flavoured savory dishes at their gourmet Italian restaurant, Mezzaluna...

I was charmed by the creamy White Onion Soup with a hint of vanilla, micro greens and a drizzle of olive oil...


Tuna and salmon sashimi was a beautiful creation...


Goat cheese and fig salad...



Vanilla goes well with seafood too. Fillet of perch and Belgian endive remains my favourite of the day...


Wine to wash it down...


Fillet of Veal, Jardinière style...


 Guinea fowl breast melba...


Vanilla played a good role in making the above dishes innovative and great. No wonder vanilla in main meal is not so unusual in vanilla producing nations.

  3. I've never thought about vanilla in savoury dishes. Cocoa is popular in Mexican dishes. I can understand it in drinks, soups and maybe even the sushi but veal? I guess I'll have to try it.
