Wordless

On my weekend photo walk, I bumped into some photogenic folks clad in khaki short pants, white shirts and black caps. They belong to a right-wing Hindu nationalist organization called RSS. I shot this while the RSS cadres were busy performing their daily drill.

  4. I know nothing at all, of course, about this organization but the gentlemen seem about very serious business. Your photo made me want to read about them and I see they have been banned in India several time. They have, however, done a great amount of good, according to my very brief reading so I must go back and learn more. It seems the organization was found, in no way, responsible for the assasination of Ghandi.

It seems they have goals for the common good of India and perform many social and humanitarian services. I am an outsider, though, and the sources I read may be biased.

    Your picture is impressive.

  8. I really like the way the men are angled in the photo and the way they are present, but not connected. Nice.

  9. The angle of this shot is great, you have caught a lot of what it is that makes these men what they are in their faces. Sorry I can't explain it in words properly!

  10. Quite interesting, I keep seeing these initials pop up in discussion but really had no clue, like isn't RSS a blog feed :)
This gives me a better reference point. Thanks

  11. Great capture. They look like relatives, and I see a similarity in their facial expressions too.

  12. Last week we found a pocket of Hindus from India in the larger city near where we live. I'm not sure if it was segregation by choice or if they were somehow forced to live in one area. I suppose it would be comforting... if you were living in another country... to be near people who speak your native tongue. Great picture. Thanks for sharing!
