Birding with my other half

 ...
My wife and I spent our Sunday morning exploring Kannamangala, where we were captivated by various avian creatures and the natural scenery that surrounded us. Here’s a photo tour...

...
The sunrise was truly magnificent...

...
A little egret stealthily searched for a fish...

...
A Grey Heron arched its neck, and seemed to be questioning our birdwatching skills and asking “you sure?”

...
A Little cormorant played around in the water...

...
The dangling crest of a Grey Heron appeared quite comical...

...
A young Little Grebe swam solo, exploring the unfamiliar world around it...

...
A Rose-ringed parakeet tended its nest cavity...

...
We spotted a Jungle Myna sporting a beautiful blue iris...

...
In the morning sunlight, the Rose-ringed parakeet appeared even more vibrant and colorful...

...
A young Brahminy kite and a Grey heron perched closely together...

...
A female Purple Sunbird was kind enough to let us take some close-up shots, allowing us to capture her features in detail...

...

...

...
While observing the surroundings through her binoculars, my wife spotted a distant Eurasian Moorhen...

...
The reflections around the moorhen appeared fascinatingly distorted...

...
An Ashy Prinia came closer to us...

...
I managed to capture some close-up shots of the young Brahminy kite...

...

...
These young leaves appeared pleasing to the eye in the morning light...

...
An Aylesbury duck, likely a runaway from the nearby farms...

...
An Indian Pond Heron scanned its surroundings for prey with intense focus, its eyes appearing to be popped out in concentration...

...
An adult Little Grebe swam alone...

...
A White-cheeked Barbet emitted its loud 'ku-turr ku-turr' calls...

...
A Great Cormorant dried itself in a posture resembling 'Christ on the cross'...

...
On spotting its prey, the Indian Pond Heron dips its beak into the water...

...
And manages to catch a small fry...

...
A White-browed Wagtail showed off its striking white brow...

...
The lake features a yoga station, an ideal spot to unwind after a brisk walk. One can simply sit and enjoy the serene sight of water birds gliding peacefully on the surface of the lake...

...
Several young Little Grebes were spotted congregating and engaging in social activities. These birds may be forming social bonds and learning from one another through play and interaction...

...
At the yoga station, we had a great time snapping photos of ourselves...

...
...

...

...
We observed a Great Cormorant intently pursuing its meal...

...
While a Little Cormorant sat and dried its feathers and wings...

...
We caught a brief glimpse of a restless Clamorous Reed Warbler darting around amongst the foliage...

...
A White-throated Kingfisher patiently perched with its sharp beak at the ready, poised to strike at any unsuspecting fish...

...
We saw a fish-loving Brahminy Kite dramatically plunge into the water and triumphantly emerge with a fish in its talons....

...

  39. Dear Shiju, that was another nice birdwatching trip, and it's nice that your wife accompanied you again. I'm also happy that I can now see your camera equipment on your double selfie. With your telephoto lens you have again brought a lot of wonderful birds very close. I am particularly impressed by the little Ashy Prinia, the female Purple Sunbird and the photo of both the Brahminy kite and the Gray Heron together. And I always admire your ability to capture such brilliant photos of birds chasing prey. The Gray Heron's crest reminds me of the braids worn by European men a few centuries ago.
