I spent two leisurely hours at Kaikondrahalli lake observing some interesting bird antics. Here are the pics...
...
I reached the lake exactly at sunrise...
...
One solitary Little grebe floated on the golden water...
...
Lots of Black-headed Ibis were seen in the center island...
...
A silhouette shot...
...
A pair of Indian Spot-billed ducks floating serenely on the water...
...
And a pair of cormorants after a heated argument...
...
Beautiful feet of Eurasian Coot. Its feet have distinctive lobed flaps of skin on the toes which act in the same way as webbed feet when swimming...
...
A White-throated Kingfisher caught a fish...
...
A solitary Indian Spot-billed Duck doing a unipedal resting...
...
An Indian Pond-Heron looking for an unwary fish...
Wow another portion of beautiful birds and as bonus a great sunrise.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely collection of birds, great sightings. I love the Kingfishers, the Cormorants and Black-headed Storks. The Coots are cute, they do have weird feet. The sunrise is stunning! Great series of photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
the Kingfisher is my absolute favourite. Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteWishI had been there with you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! The kingfishers are beautiful: as they often move frequently and don't stay still, it's amazing that you were able to capture such good images.

ReplyDeleteHello. Many of these birds are exotic and stunning to me who have not seen them in the wild. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteYou took some beautiful photos with the early morning light. And the Cormorants are a wonderful series. I think we ALL wish we could be there and see what you see! WOW!
ReplyDeleteYou take superb photographs my friend.

DeleteAmazing, gorgeous, and you are so talented.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I just bought myself a camera with a longer zoom so I can do a bit more birding.
ReplyDeleteSo incredibly beautiful. I liked the way you started out the day before sunrise :(with your bed already made -- and those beautiful bird pictures on the walls). What an amazing birding trip and the stories your pictures tell (the cormorants "not speaking" -- and the other pair's courtship! ... and the Kingfisher having breakfast). Every picture is priceless (and the sunrise itself was beautiful!)
ReplyDelete...I love your "golden hour" images.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous delightful captures and captions!
ReplyDeleteAwesome sunrise photos and our feathered friends ~ Fantastic photography ~

Just lovely! I really adore those sunrise photos; we don't get orange tints to our skies and water reflections like that!
ReplyDeletewow, that is some stunning morning shots. Love the golden mornings. I have seen the Black-headed Ibis once. In Queensland. :) Nice shots.

ReplyDeleteAmazing photos. I especially loved seeing the feet of that coot. Startlingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBirdwatching and photographing, a never ending source of pleasure.
ReplyDeleteThank you for identifying the various birds! I am pretty good ID-ing wading birds, but ducks, grebes, coots... not so much. Love the blue on the kingfisher - wonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteA golden time, and the most beautiful birds...
ReplyDeleteThe little grebe appeared to be floating in molten gold. Love is in the air with those Cormorants. The kingfisher photos, of it eating the fish, are fantastic. I love those action shots. It is a most handsome bird. I could go on and on. Your photos are delightful. I am happy to see that you are feeling well enough to stay out longer. Cheers...
ReplyDeleteI am literally awed by your nature photos! I was gaping in admiration, thanks for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that someone else is an early riser too. Why miss a sunrise when you can be outside with camera in hand?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've healed and are back at the lake - missed your photos while you were gone! Congrats for being featured at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'll never be a birder, because I am a night owl (It's a bird of a different kind - smile). Wow, the light is so beautiful at sunrise! Great series about the cormorant, and the king fisher, such a little bright bird. Beautiful post, Shiju!
ReplyDeleteYes, I really liked your post! Wonderful, the sunrise photos with the golden water - and all the great bird photos. Some of them look like works of art, so your introductory collage with the pictures on the wall fits in very well.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice Sunday and a wonderful new week!
