Last weekend at Saul Kere

Last weekend, I spent a few hours birding at Saul Kere. Here are the sightings...

...
An Intermediate Egret fished in the swamp...
...
Glossy Ibis too was looking far a meal...
...
I could hear an Oriental Magpie-Robin calling through the trees...
...
It's always fun to watch the Scaly-breasted Munia...
...
A juvenile Scaly-breasted Munia was also spotted...
...
White-breasted Waterhen was almost hidden in the branches...
...
Then he decided to fly...
...

...
Also hidden in the branches was a White-throated Kingfisher with a fairly large fish...
...
White-cheeked Barbet was happily singing its gutrr gutrr song...
...

...
Then it made a missile like dash...

...
A Black Drongo sat sternly defending his territory...
...
A Black Kite was hovering in the sky...
...
Coppersmith Barbet was busy drilling his nest hole...
...

...
A Black-headed Ibis marked his presence...
...

...
A Rose-ringed Parakeet couple seemed like reluctantly following the Covid social distancing protocol. Left side - female and right side - male...
...
Also seen was a Green Bee-eater couple...
...
White-cheeked Barbet was seen excavating nest cavity in a dry tree...
...
Caterpillar of a giant leopard moth...

Thus ended an enjoyable outing. Hope you liked the post. Please do post your comment below...

  6. Super photos again Shiju. Those barbets are just wonderful and I wish we had some in Europe. We don't have Intermediate Egrets either. If we did I think I would struggle to separate from Great Egret.
