Few birds from Hoskote

I visited Hoskote lake despite the flooded surroundings. These are the few birds I could sight from the farmland area that is still dry...

...
Seeing an Indian Roller is always a delight. I watched for some time till it flew...
...

...

...
The flooded surroundings...
...
Large Grey Babbler was active on a tree...
...
A juvenile Brahminy kite was basking in the early morning sun...
...

...
A Common Myna...
...
A Red-wattled Lapwing was keeping an eye on intruders and was playing his role of  'protector of the lake'...
...
...

...
A juvenile Brahminy Kite flew around trying to steal fishes from cormorants...
...
A Clamorous Reed Warbler was seen next...
...

...
Great Egret was looking very elegant...
...
I was delighted to see a visiting male Siberian Stonechat...
...
An Oriental Darter in flight...
...
Last bird of the day was a juvenile Brahminy Kite. At this time of the year they confuse birdwatchers with their resemblance to Eurasian Marsh Harriers that are also visiting...

  3. You seem to be having bad luck with your rainy weather Shiju. However you always give us plenty of photos. I was especially interested in seeing the Siberian Stonechat because just occasionally one will turn up here in the UK. I have my fingers crossed to one day find one!

  4. Remarkable photos as always -- I especially like the roller in flight. The names "roller" and "babbler" seem especially exotic as we don't have those species at all in North America.

  6. You have observed and photographed wonderful birds again. I think the flight of the Oriental Darter is particularly elegant, and it's great that the Indian Roller poses so nicely!

  10. Any kind of roller is a real treat, especially for birders who don't have them in their home areas.

  11. What a great series of photos of the different birds.
The Indian Roller and the juvenile Brahminy Kite are my favorite.
Many species do not occur in the Netherlands, the reed warbler, great egret and the European stonechat are the only species that we do see them here in the Netherlands.
    Greetings Irma

  20. Your photos are beautiful. The Indian Roller is a stunning colour! We get so many of those Myna birds here - they are considered pests.

  36. It was wonderful to see the birds in green surroundings. Finland is covered with snow and the temperatures are way below zero. There are a lot of blackbirds and other birds eating the rowan berries. My husband feeds the birds and squirrels so that they survive. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
