Birding hiatus due to corona

I am on a birding hiatus due to the Corona virus threat. This series is from my trip to Hoskote lake two weeks back....

Due to the COVID-19 scare nobody was birding. Even my car sat alone...

A White-browed Wagtail welcomed me with its wheezy "wheech" calls...

A Common Sandpiper made me note its presence...

I liked the reflections of this sandpiper...

An aeroplane was crossing the moon...

Greater Coucal...

Intermediate Egret...

I saw this bird almost completely hidden by the nesting materials it was carrying. The arrowhead-like spots pointing upwards on the breast revealed its identity as Jerdon's Bushlark...

I waited for it to return for the next load...

An Ashy prinia flitted around...

Here's a closeup...

Freshly tilled farm land was attracting a lot of birds who were scampering to collect the leftover grains and exposed insects...

A Jerdon's Bushlark was one among the opportunists...

A cute squirrel held my attention for a while...

It was lovely to see the Barn Swallows...

An Ashy prinia unfurled its tail to match the tassel of the corn plant...

Then I sighted one Indian Silverbill...

A smart looking Western Yellow Wagtail...

 A Black-winged Stilt with a falling droplet...

And another Black-winged Stilt with its drunk shadow...

An Indian Pond heron caught a tiny Water strider...

As I was walking back to my car, I saw this gentleman in black & white called Jacobin Cuckoo...

That's the end of the trip. I hope the world will be free from COVID-19 pandemic soon. I'm wishing everybody the best and we're going to get through this!

  3. I loved all your beautiful photos. The squirrel really caught my eye - he's a little different than the squirrels I'm used to. I am fascinated by the antics of squirrels.

  6. Looks like you have a spam attack - I do not understand people!!!!

Great set of photos and you are lucky that you can go birding from the car. We are not allowed out at all except with a permit to buy food or go to the chemist/hospital Thank goodness we live in the country and we have a fair sized garden! Take care, Diane

  8. It took me a while before I saw the bird making the nest! I thought first it was a pineapple, lol!
The water reflections of these birds are so sharp - - my favorite is the last one, because of the bended shapes. The squirrels in my yard are grey! Am so sorry, you are having that vile anonymous child vomiting on your blog. If you can remove it, do it. Have seen the same comment on another blog, so it's not anything you said:( Many thanks for sharing the beauty in nature with All Seasons. Have a safe and healthy week:)

  18. Thank you for sharing the happiness through your beautiful bird portraits! I smiled at many your descriptions also. For instance, that cuckoo really does look the gentleman in his black and white “suit”.. Your birds almost come alive for your readers through your pictures and words! ..... I think a lot of bloggers will be using pictures from old adventures for a while.

  20. Your photos are absolutely beautiful ! I love the little squirrel, it looks so real as if it would jump out of my screen. We are in our second week of lockdown due to Coronavirus and the end is not in sight. It's not easy to stay inside all day and only going out for food shopping or the pharmacy. All other shops and business are closed.

  25. Your barn swallows remind me I might not be home by May to see them return, and to protect my front porch from nest building. I just couldn't take a nest down after it was built. - Margy

  34. I really enjoyed admiring all your beautiful bird photos, and many I had never seen. I had not seen a squirrel with a stripe in its back. It looks like a young one. I have not been out of my house since March 15. But I see robins, cardinals, bluebirds and more landing in trees in my backyard.
