Birds of Kasavanahalli lake

Saturday morning was spent exploring birds at the beautiful Kasavanahalli lake in Bangalore. Here are the birds and blooms that caught my eye...

An Asian Openbill stork...

Asian Openbill in flight...

Brahminy Kite...

Indian Spot-billed Duck...

It was nice to feel the wind blowing off the water and hear the bird calls. Here's a video...

Black-winged stilts were wading in search of food...

This picture will give you an idea how long-legged they are...

A Coppersmith Barbet was busy eating berries...

This little fellow was also looking extremely busy...

Water lily...

As I was admiring the water lilies, I observed a Eurasian Coot  doing the same...

It went a step ahead and bit off a petal...

A shy Greater Coucal...

Gray-headed Swamphen...

Spotted Dove...

A juvenile Black-winged stilt was being guided by its parent...

 Juvenile Black-winged stilt...

Purple Heron..

The takeoff...

And the beautiful flight...

  4. Amazing images Shiju! Had to smile at the long legs of the black-winged stilt - what is so impressive is you know all the English names of these birds. Interesting how the camera picks up the furry feathers of the juvenile black winged stilt so well1 Many thanks for this interesting and well executed post from All Seasons! Have a great week!
