Birds in our midst

When it comes to birding, Hoskote lake in Bangalore is always in great shape and compels me to try it again and again. It was an easy walk last Sunday which resulted in some amazing sightings. Here's a photo tour...

Sunrise...

A Black-winged stilt was on a fishing mission, walking skillfully without disturbing the water...

Soon it caught a fish...

A Little egret was even more circumspect in its fishing mission...

Watching it was a tale of focus...

And a tale of patience...

In the end perseverance pays...

I watched the synchronous attempts of a pair of black-winged stilts...

Indian pond heron in breeding plumage...

Another little egret's fishing mission...

Common Hawk-Cuckoo...

Glossy Ibis...

Green bee-eater...

Zitting Cisticola...

Cattle egret in breeding plumage...

Passion flower...

Pied Bushchat with its catch...

Large grey babbler...

I was happy to see a Wood sandpiper at this time of the year. He probably decided to stay back instead of taking the trouble to migrate back to Europe...

Plain tiger butterfly...

Rose-ringed Parakeet...

Paddyfield Pipit...

Common Kingfisher...

Ashy Prinia...

Red-rumped Swallow...

Dew drop...

White-browed Wagtail...

Zitting Cisticola...

Sheep...

Purple-rumped Sunbird female...

Indian Silverbill...

  9. These photos are absolutely stunning. I'm amazed to see how still the water is in the midst of a fishing expedition. The surface is like a mirror!

  11. These photos are wonderful. It's big birding time around here along the Texas Gulf Coast as millions of birds head north from South and Central America, so I've been learning a lot about birds. Your birds are beautiful, and you captured the life of the birds so well.

    Hello Shiju,

Wow, the king fisher, the passion flower, and the sheep - not to mention the water drops and reflections in your captures - all amazing! It speaks of your love of nature. Whenever you have time, visit Ken(Rosy Finch Blogspot), you have something in common! Thank you for sharing this fantastic gallery of captures with All Seasons!
(As you may remember, I'm not able to get the comment through, since I have a wordpress blog).
