It is the official residence and seat of the Wodeyars — the Maharajas of Mysore, the former royal family of Mysore, who ruled the princely state of Mysore from 1399 to 1950.

ReplyDeleteI will never forget that wonderful day I got to spend at Mysore Palace and at the temple at Somnathpur. My incredible host from Bangalore spent long hours driving to give me my most outstanding Indian experience ( aside from seeing the Taj ) but I was lacking his charming presence there. This picture brings back all the great memories.
