A quick birding visit to Kannamangala Lake yielded some lovely sights. Come, join me on a photo journey!
~~~
An Indian Spot-billed duck's serene reflection greeted me first, setting the tone for a day of beautiful reflections.
~~~
A Streak-throated Swallow cries out, calling its mate.
~~~
Mate arrives in a flash, their sweet nothings exchanged, unaware of my gaze.
~~~
Sensing my presence, a distant male Asian Koel takes flight.
~~~
A Purple-rumped Sunbird perches on the fence.
~~~
A large flock of rosy starlings dots a distant tree.
Another elegant Indian Spot-billed Duck!
~~~
A black streak plunges into the water, a drongo on the hunt.
~~~
The lone Aylesbury duck, a probable escapee from the nearby farms whom I had been tracking for the past many visits, has finally found a mate. I was happy to follow the duo, and they gave me some amazing reflection shots.
~~~
A common moorhen provided an uncommon photo opportunity by flapping its wings.
~~~
A Rufous Treepie, perched on a distant tree, was a beautiful sight.
~~~
I watched its series of fishing attempts. Each try unfolded like a mini-drama.
~~~
A busy Indian Pond Heron scanned the shallow water for an unwary fish.
~~~
A watercolor artist painted the scene, his brushstrokes echoing the beauty of the lake.
What great photos these are Shiju.
ReplyDeleteThe Aylesbury duck is beautifully photographed with the reflection.
I also love all those other species that we don't see in the Netherlands.
The flying White-throated Kingfisher is also my favorite.
Greetings Irma
The goose reflection in water makes incredible pictures
ReplyDeleteNot quite “Swan Lake” but those ducks put on quite a display.
ReplyDeleteYour birds are amazing. I'd love to go birding in your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy your amazing photos. The rosy starlings atop the tree are my favs - something about them against the sky makies me smile.
ReplyDeleteAnother post with amazing shots of all sorts of birds. Most of which are unfamiliar to me. You catch them in both still and active modes.
ReplyDeleteThe Kingfisher colors are extraordinary!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous captures all!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures.
ReplyDeleteAmazing , Great series of pics
ReplyDeleteMan sieht es genau, hinter der Kamera ist ein Profi am Werk! Super Serie. 😀
ReplyDeleteYour trips to the lakes always produce great variety of birds and fowls.
Me enamore de los patos. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work sir! Looking at your posts hope I regain birding motivation
ReplyDeleteOnce again my favourite is the Kingfisher, with its turquoise wings.
ReplyDeleteWell captured.
Hello Shiju,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds and awesome photos. The Aylesbury ducks and reflections are lovely images. I like the Swallows, the Sunbird and Kingfisher. The Rufous Treepie is a beauty. They are all great photos, well done. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend.
Your bird photos are always wonderful, especially the amazing way you capture flight action and reflections in calm water. But this time, you added the very appealing photos of the watercolor painter in the pretty gazebo, which I also enjoyed.
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Dear Shiju, among all your many wonderful photos today I am particularly happy about the "white bride and groom" - the Aylesbury ducks, who have apparently found each other (and perhaps even escaped from a cooking pot). May they live long, happy duck lives and produce lots of cute little white duck babies! :-) Wonderful, the reflections! All your bird flight photos are sensational again. I also think the watercolor painting you photographed is very beautiful. But the man also seems to be a photographer, judging by the equipment that was next to him. I used to paint, now I prefer photography because it's quicker, but I can understand the desire to paint this landscape.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and have a lovely weekend,
Traude
What a talented artist! Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to capture that on a canvass. Love the reflections of the ducks best today. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeletemale Asian Koel takes flight looks so fantastic...
ReplyDeleteAnother collection of nature's marvel from your candid camera, Shiju. As always breathtaking and I love the composition.
ReplyDeleteWhat a talented artist, and it must have been calming just watching him paint. I love that shot of the painter with the awe-inspiring backdrop.
I'm also doing a bit of a round-up of my wanderlust trysts from 2023. Started with Part 1 last week.
Happy Yule!
Forget to say the reflection images are to die for. :)))
DeleteWhat beautiful birds. I do love the ducks. x
ReplyDeleteA wayward beach ball bobbing on the lake during a windy day. A white pelican passing near the shore and an osprey calling in the distance. The glow of sunset, finally, after many cloudy, and rainy days. Happy Holidays and Happy birding in 2024! Thank you for your blog visits! I always take the time to reflect on your photos, just like your white mated ducks above.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, as always! I especially like the reflected ducks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice photo journey i am glad I joined you :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a laketastic week 👍
I like the ducks and the spot billed one in the first photo, especially. Thank you for linking up.
ReplyDeleteNice when a duck escapes the dinner table to live a truely wild life. They do make beautiful reflections in nature. Enjoyed all your photos. You always have amazing outings. Take care this winter season.
ReplyDeleteSmall moments of beauty? hmmm Guess it would be the lovely snow flakes that fell yesterday making it look like a snow globe outside...but only for a moment because then they got more and more and ended up our first snow of the season. But it didn't last, just cold and some of the snow has gone. There are so many in each day, and on Tuesdays you share some with your lovely, and amazing photo shots. I need a better camera, but I also know that it's also the eye of the photographer as well as a good camera. Have a great New Year coming up. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, as always. That kingfisher is brilliant. Those ducks and reflections are stunning. (I actually posted a couple bird photos myself this week: Sandhill Cranes in flight)
ReplyDeleteOh, these photos are lovely. Such beautiful birds. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteSome more great bird photos in this set. Well done, as always!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I especially like the angles of the ducks and the photos of the painter this week.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your fantastic photos!
ReplyDeleteYour outings are always incredible.
It is indeed like a mini-drama. I can watch birds all day.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are utterly beautiful. How you captured the spirit of those birds is incredible. I especially loved the kingfisher shots and the perfectly symmetrical duck with its reflection. Wonderful! :-)
ReplyDeleteShiju, your photos always amaze me. How does one pick a favorite in this post? I can't, though I am partial to the duck reflections and flight shots. I enjoyed seeing the photos of the watercolor artist in action. Reminds me, I need to get offline and get my brushes wet today!
ReplyDeleteBellas fotos. Pasaba a desearte una feliz navidad para ti y tu familia
ReplyDeleteEveryone is running as fast as they can,
Nice that the domestic ducks have a place that isn’t going to freeze and they’ll be able to survive
