The common name of wishbone flower comes from how the stamens look like a chicken wishbone in shape...
Wishbone flower blooms like crazy all season. It needs rich, very moist, well-drained soil and is ideal for a cool greenhouse plant in shade in hot regions...
Also called as clown flower for its vividly marked flowers that resemble the face of a clown...
What is a wishbone?
The furcula or wishbone is a forked bone found in birds and some other animals, and is formed by the fusion of the two clavicles.
Great shots... Hope I get the long part of the wishbone :)...

Wow the colors of these flowers are beautiful. I love the curve of the stamens in the Wishbone shape.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! I love the colours in the first one.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and post, thank you for sharing at our party :)
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing at how beautiful nature truly is. Those flowers are very interesting and they have such a beauty about them. I can see how it resembles a clown but at the same time almost feel like I am insulting the flower to call them that. I guess it is because most clowns are not known for their beauty and can be very wacky in what they do. While it seems as if one can only feel that these flowers are very graceful. A house planted with these around them must surely look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these gorgeous pictures with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope you are having a fantastic weekend and find some more beautiful flowers to take pictures of.
God bless.
Lovely little flowers, the Torenia. I've never grown them. They would probably faint in our heat.
