Weekend walk at Hoskote

On my latest walk at Hoskote, I found some very interesting bird activity. Here are the pics...
...
The morning sky was littered with small clouds to make it interesting...
...
Rose-ringed Parakeet settled on a tree branch...
...
Two Great Cormorant were sitting on a water pipe. The backdrop and reflection looked good...
...
I walked along the edge of the Marigold field, admiring the orange and yellow flowers...
...

...
I saw an Ashy Prinia. He was carrying nesting materials into the marigold bushes where he seemed to build a nest...
...
And popping back after a while...
...
Another Great Cormorant couple sat on a distant tree...
...
Long-tailed Shrike marked its presence...
...
A male Baya Weaver was savoring corn tassel...
...

...

...
A male Pied Bushchat was seen next...
...
A Green Bee-eater swooped through the air, displaying amazing aerobatics, catching his meal...
...I watched the marvelous spectacle of the bee-eater tossing, thrashing and finally swallowing the bee sans the stings...
...

...

...

...
Another Green Bee-eater was operating on another tree branch...

...
And here is his special catch...
...
A Plain Prinia was seen next...
...
Now it was a female Baya Weaver's turn to munch corn tassel...
...
A non-breeding male Baya Weaver made an appearance on the corn plant...

...
A tiny Ashy-crowned Sparrow-Lark was seen next...

...
On the way back, I clicked this pic of the Marigold field...
...
Hope you liked the post. Looking forward to your comment.

  3. Oh my gosh these are beautiful. The marigold series is really lovely as are all of the birds and their scenic backgrounds that you also always catch so beautifully. And the ones with the bee-eater catching and eating the bee were so amazing -- I am in awe. Thank you! (What is the magazine in your top photo in your home?)

    1. That's not a real magazine. It is created using photoshop to just highlight few favorite photos from the trip.

  7. As always, Shiju your post transports me to the unhindered wilderness. And you story telling skills make it a doubly entertaining experience.

Such precious winged wonders. Love how you captured the bee eaters feasting.
I'd love to see an Ashy Prinia nest in the marigold bushes. We have plenty here in our condo, but I've never spotted a nest.

Have a good weekend. Look forward to your weekend finds. :)

  20. Super shots again Shiju. I love the way the prinia picks up the colour of the marigolds. And of course the bee eater just letting the fod come by rather than expend energy by chasing around. Super work. Congratulations.

  25. The bee eater must be the best photos taken of this bird with it's catch! And the backgrounds of orange and yellows in the first few photos make them spectacular! What a great time you had for bird watching!

  32. There are so many outstanding photos again, I am thrilled! Of course, I am particularly enthusiastic about the bee eaters catching their prey. The photo of Ashy Prinia with the nesting material in the Marigold field is worth a large canvas for the colors alone. And you did a great job of capturing the Baya Weaver in the cornfield.
The photos of your "birding in the rain" are great, too!

  43. Many beautiful birds, Shiju! And you caught them in so many great moments of their life. Wonder how long it takes to get this many captures of birds on one walk? Or does it depend on the weather, and time of day? Enjoy your weekend, Emille
