Photo walk at Gulakamale

It was my first visit to Gulakamale village near Bangalore, and it turned out to be quite uneventful in terms of bird sightings. The lack of cooperative birds was very well compensated by the sightings of small critters and flora that thrive in the monsoon season. Here's a photo tour...

The lake...

Azure damselfly...

Plain Prinia...

Gloriosa superba also known as Glory Lily and Flame Lily. This plant is poisonous, toxic enough to cause human and animal fatalities if ingested. It has been used to commit murder and to commit suicide. Every part of the plant is poisonous, especially the tuberous rhizomes. Poisonings can occur when the tubers are mistaken for sweet potatoes or yams and eaten...

White Orange-tip butterfly...

Oriental White-eye...

Common Sailor butterfly...

Egg of a Praying Mantis. The egg is protected by its hard capsule...

Male Ditch Jewel dragonfly...

Male Diplacodes trivialis dragonfly also known as chalky percher or ground skimmer...

The cutest critter of the day was a garden snail...

Look at its eyes at the tip of the longer tentacles...

Birds are back at Kasavanahalli lake

Kasavanahalli lake was revisited last week. My previous visit to this beautiful lake was in November, 2017, when the much polluted lake was just rejuvenated and birds were reluctantly starting to settle there. I am happy to report that the rejuvenation and conservation activities have worked and numerous beautiful critters have happily settled. Here's a photo tour...
