The Den - Luxury hotel for globetrotters

It's tough enough to get to No.1 and even harder to stay there. With the launch of the state of the art luxury hotel, The DEN Hotel in Bangalore is well on course to achieve it. I attended the launch party and experienced their excellent hospitality.
Here's a photo tour...

With 226 rooms, suites, facilities and delicious dining options, The Den is positioned as a state-of-the-art luxury hotel for the millennials and globetrotters around the context of "Eat.Work.Sleep.Play". Located close to ITPB, the IT hub of Bangalore, it provides a quiet efficiency for the business travelers as well as destination connoisseurs...

The lovely welcome drink, a cocktail of basil and orange came with a beautiful presentation...

We gathered for the introduction...

Speaking at the launch, Vinesh Gupta, General Manager, The Den said, " The Den prides itself as being a cultural touchstone that provides state-of-the-art facilities. Our aim is to offer our guests a unique blend of modern and traditional aesthetics"...

The tasteful nibbles raised the expectations for the lunch program...

The small eats whetted our appetite. We headed to The Creek, a casual and high-energy, round the clock dining restaurant that serves Indian and world cuisines...

Birds of Lalbagh

Sunday morning birding trip to Lalbagh, Bangalore was quite good with some really pleasant surprises. I had an impromptu meeting with the good folks of Birdwatchers' Field Club of Bangalore. More about them at the end of this post.
Here's a photo tour...

I reached Lalbagh in time to see the glorious sunrise...

An Indian Spot-billed duck was at its reflective best. The male has a red spot on the base of the bill, which is absent or inconspicuous in the smaller but otherwise similar female...

Chestnut-tailed starling...

The morning walkers bring loads of grains to feed the pigeons, rose-ringed parakeets and squirrels...

The feeding frenzy was quite a sight...

Ashy Drongo...

Ashy Drongo is a migratory bird. It is seen here only during winter...

As I was watching, it caught a bee...

White Dombeya flowers produce a sweet pleasant smell...

Pink Dombeya flowers...

Brahminy Kite...

A Verditer Flycatcher was such a tease. I got a glimpse for just a second which explains the bad photo quality...

Little Egret...

Saraca Asoca flower. Commonly known as Ashoka tree, it is an important tree in the cultural traditions of the Indian subcontinent and adjacent areas...

A Common Jezebel butterfly that was sucking nectar had wings in the same colour combination as the Saraca Asoca flowers...

A pair of Spotted Owlet were sitting with their eyes closed...

After a while, one of them opened one eye to check the surroundings...

Another one opened both eyes for a second...

Rose-ringed Parakeet...

Male Oriental Magpie Robin...

Oriental Magpie Robins are particularly well known for their songs and were once popular as cagebirds...
