Last Sunday morning, I had been for a brief birding trip to Hoskote. Here are my observations...
...
I missed the sunrise but the sky still had some drama when I reached Hoskote...
...
A Pied Bushchat woke up and was contemplating her next move...
...
A Pied Cuckoo (Jacobin Cuckoo). Always seen around this time of the year, this bird heralds the onset of the monsoon (rainy) season in India...
...
A Pioneer butterfly could only be glimpsed through leaves...
...
I walked past a Black kite sitting on an electric pole, displaying its typical posture...
...
An Ashy Prinia was flitting around restlessly...
...
I watched a few juvenile Mynas learning to fly...
...
A Jerdon's Bushlark showed up next with a typical lark's lurk...
...
A female Chalky Percher dragonfly was seen next...
...
So many bugs became active as the sun gathered strength. An Eristalinus hoverfly was seen next...
...
An Orange-tip butterfly...
...
And a Jewel bug showed his metallic gleam...
...
A male Chalky Percher dragonfly...
...
As I was admiring the dragonflies, a White-browed Wagtail arrived biting a dragonfly...
...
A Paddyfield Pipit was seen in a picturesque setup...
...
A Red-wattled Lapwing flew towards me screaming its neurotic alarm call...
...
Quite contrasting were the peacefully swimming raft of Eurasian Coots...
so nice

Great show again with also a lot of insects. A real magical place to photograph.
ReplyDeleteLiked the play on words of your comment on our grandchild with the cake:):) Oh wow, did you notice the pioneer butterfly is the same one I painted in my week's post (I can't remember the Latin name, but it starts with an E or an L:) Not only your sun is dramatic, but your whole post!! Emille

I love these photos.
ReplyDeleteHello, Outstanding number of beautiful birds and insects, and nicely photographed as always. I enjoyed seeing the young Mynas birds learning to fly, and the flight take off of the Indian Spot-billed Duck.
ReplyDeleteYou take so many great photos of the birds but today I am enjoying the bugs, butterflies and dragonflies. I love the little details in these photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous sighting of wildlife, and you photograph it all so beautifully. Really enjoyed the Mynas
ReplyDeleteThat lapwing in flight is exceptional. And that jewel big is really quite colorful and aptly named.
ReplyDeleteThank you for choosing to participate at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend!!
So many different and charming critters. Thanks for sharing. The Kingfisher remains my fav. :)
ReplyDelete...your dragonfly images are fabulous, I find them so difficult to capture.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely mix of birds again, especially those innocent looking Mynas. The jewel bug is rather beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful series. The bulbul had its feathers ruffled by something!
ReplyDeleteThat was really a dramatic sky, dear Shiju! :-) Your animal shots are great again - the juvenile Mynas trying to fly and the flight shots of the Indian Spot-billed Duck are particularly spectacular. You're incredibly good at capturing birds in motion - but you also get a lot of birds to sit especially for you - until you have got a brilliant picture of them! That's magic :-D
ReplyDeleteAll the best and a good start into the coming week, Traude

Oh what a lovely outing. Wonderful birds (and other flying creatures) -- you are as talented at identifying the dragonflies and insects as you are with birds. amazing. Every picture was wonderful and I even liked looking at the arrangement on your living room wall!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking me along your morning birding trip - beautiful photos as always. Is the first photo from your home? So stylish and modern!
ReplyDeleteNo, it is created using photoshop.
