Monsoon is in full swing in many parts of India. Bangalore has been having spells of rain. This week, I visited Saul Kere lake with an umbrella in one hand and camera in the other. I didn't walk around much and spent a lot of time waiting for birds to show up. Here's what I saw...
...
A Eurasian Coot chick was following the mother coot...
...
A Purple Heron caught a fish, quite effortlessly in the rain...
...
A Pheasant-tailed Jacana couple flew around enjoying the rain...
...
Rain stopped for sometime and a solitary Intermediate Egret began his quest for a meal...
...
A Spot-billed Pelican was floating gently...
...
My attention was drawn to a solitary Little Grebe...
...
And a Spot-billed pelican looked like a tale of serenity...
...
Once again, a Pheasant-tailed Jacana displayed its brown bordered white wings, visible in flight...
...
Another Spot-billed pelican...
...
And another visual treat from a Pheasant-tailed Jacana...
...
A Eurasian Moorhen was shivering out water and preening...
...
And a Little Cormorant was sitting and drying wet feathers...
Hello, :=) There is nothing I can say, that I haven't said before. There are so many interesting species of Indian birds and in either sun or rain you do an excellent job of photographing them. I have mentioned in other posts how I find the Pheasant-tailed Jacana to be a most attractive bird, but I will add that is also an elegant bird and I have enjoyed the many photographs
ReplyDeleteyou have shared in this post.
It is always amazing how many bird species you find in one of your outings, and manage to photograph so beautifully. I do love that pelican with the topknot. You never, ever disappoint.
ReplyDeleteNice series of photos, you can clearly see that it is raining.
ReplyDeleteI really like the pheasant tail Jacana pair, they are not here in the Netherlands.
Also nice shots of the egret and the purple heron.
The white-throated kingfisher and the green bee-eater are also not found in the Netherlands.
I have enjoyed your blog again.
Greetings Irma
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am glad the rain stopped for a while during your visit. Your photos are just amazing. Beautiful variety of birds, I love them all.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Gorgeous photos. Fantastic birds.
ReplyDeleteThese water birds don’t seem to mind the rain at all. Here many of the songbirds hide out when the weather is wet. Your photos as always are gorgeous. What vivid colors!

Seems to me that one-handed photography yields great results!
ReplyDeleteI did have a monopod for support.
Delete...these are fabulous, I like shooting in the rain if I can keep my camera dry.
ReplyDeleteThese are simply amazing images. I so enjoy your work.

You take some amazing action shots, I really love the Egret photo series!!
ReplyDeletePheasant-tailed Jacana couple look so wonderful....
ReplyDeleteexcellent captures
So many birds! They don't seem to mind the rainy weather. The Pheasant-tailed Jacana is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! The shots with raindrops have a dreamy look.
ReplyDeleteThat's a first for me, birding with a camera and an umbrella. But as usual you returned with many fine photos, not least the Purple Heron. I hope the monsoons subside soon and you can get out minus the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteWow beautiful again.
ReplyDeleteExtraordinary, beautiful photos!!! That pheasant tailed jacana is so impressive! I really enjoyed the scenes & ambiance surrounding.
ReplyDeleteThanks, as always, allowing us to visit with you via your link you shared at I'd Rather B Birdin'

It wasn’t a bad birding trip after all despite of the rain. You caught an amazing variety of birds and great pictures. The spreaded wings of the pheasant tailed Jacana are impressive and I love the first photo! Warm greetings.
ReplyDeleteso many beauties today - loved the couple of Jacana, and I always admire the kingfishers
ReplyDeleteThe details in your photos are always amazing. It usually surprises people when they see that the Coot and Moorhens have long legs. Love the backgrounds of so many of your pics too...the green and yellows are pretty!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't possible select a favorite from this series of shots. All of them are stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2022/07/milkweed-visitors.html
Such beautiful and detailed photos!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos nice close ups can se every colour and detail
ReplyDeleteHave a feathertastic week 👍
it is good to see all your beautiful birds. In my area the lakes are empty Where there used to be black with coots I only saw two today. :(
ReplyDeletenice; I put your blog in my blog list (https://sintrabloguecintia.blogspot.com/)
ReplyDeleteYour clarity is astounding. And capturing the birds with their wing span is one of my favorite sights (and hard to do). You are a master.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous wetland again in Bangalore!
ReplyDeleteThe first six or seven photos showed me the diversity of this wetland and the avian wonders.

Oh, a photo shoot in the rain is worse than when snowing! But still you have enough beauties here! the purple swamphen has enviable colors, and love your captures of the wings of the pheasant Jacanda. Hope you have some days when it's not raining this week:)
ReplyDeleteThe white-throated kingfisher is a handsome bird with the turquoise feathering. The little grebe with its lime spot is sweet too. The swamphen is colorful. A room painting and decorated with all of those colors would be gorgeous. The Jacana probably makes all the other Jacanas jealous with those jaunty neck feathers and that fabulous tail.
ReplyDeleteOf course! Why should a little rain stop an intrepid birder?
ReplyDeleteRain or shine, your photos never cease to amaze me. Congrats for your feature this week at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy!
ReplyDeleteunderful
ReplyDeleteWhat a luscious walk in the drops ... rain is a true challenge to photograph because of its fluidity but also ... umbrella in one hand and camera in the other. :)
