A quick birding trek at Hoskote produced some interesting sightings. Here are the pics...
...
The low light and the shy nature of the bird resulted in these record shots of the Yellow-wattled Lapwing...
...
A Red-wattled Lapwing also showed up...
...
Although walking in the farm area is difficult, I admired the enhanced beauty brought by the Marigold blooms. Here are two pictures shot a fortnight apart...
...
Some more closeups...
...
A warbler was seen. I couldn't identify the exact variant. I get confused with the Covid variants too...
...
A Eurasian Hoopoe caught an ant...
...
I took a couple more shots of the beauty...
...
A Paddyfield Pipit...
...
And a male Siberian Stonechat...
...
A female Asian Koel gets tempted seeing the ripe papaya fruits. I watched her relish the sweet fruit...
...
A Tree Pipit. The prominent markings on its breast makes it easy to identify...
...
Another Eurasian Hoopoe foraging in the grass...
...
A Great Egret caught a fish...
...
I saw around 50 Western Yellow Wagtails foraging in the grass...
Non-breeding adult...
...
A Long-tailed Shrike...
...
A Zitting Cisticola...
...
A juvenile Brahminy Kite...
...
And the last sighting was a Grey Francolin couple. They get easily perturbed, so avoided going closer to take a better shot. I was happy with just the sighting and the record shot...
Hope you liked the post. Looking forward to your thoughts in the comments section below...
What a great series of photos you show here.
ReplyDeleteMany species do not occur here in the Netherlands.
My favorite are photo 15, 24, 26, 27 and 29.
Greetings Irma
The yellow on the Yellow-wattled Lapwing is so bright. The European Hoopoo is one of my most want-to-see birds. Love seeing the pictures of this one. The Asian Koel reminds me of a reptile.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed seeing the marigold fields. I have often wondered where the marigolds come from for all the celebrations.
Cheers and have a great weekend.
Shiju, these are all amazing photos. It is a treat to see birds I would never otherwise see! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful critters...and some are unusual sights for me.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Amazing pics
ReplyDeletewow! All these pictures are amazing. I also learned names of different birds. Marigold fields are sure eye pleasing, and wonderful sunrise too.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWow, another wonderful outing. The sunrise to start your day was gorgeous. I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful birds and your lovely photos. The field of Marigolds is a pretty sight, lovely flowers. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Your shots are to beautiful. What a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteThe hoopoe with the ant is a remarkable shot. Also the others.
ReplyDeleteBest… mae at maefood.blogspot.oom
Beautiful sights everywhere! My favorite shot is the Eurasian Hoopoe catching an ant. It happens to be one of my favorite birds. Majestic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to start the day seeing a sunrise like that. Indeed we both have a Hoopoe in our posts today. A beautiful looking bird. ALl your images are terrific. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou always give us a wealth of photos Shiju. And lots to think about. Of course I am a great fan of Hoopoes and could sit for ages watching their antics. I never did get great views of Koels - they seemed to hide away a lot, at least for me. I think you warbler is a pipit but I'm struggling to name it as the bill looks small and the legs short. Perhaps a Blyth's Pipit?
ReplyDeleteThat mural is fabulous -- and so is every other image in this gorgeous post!
ReplyDeleteHello, :=) Gosh! You do see a wonderful variety of birds. Beautiful sunrise, flowers, and a great number of beautifully captured bird images.
ReplyDeleteThat was special Shiju, my favourites were the Red-wattled Lapwing and the Hoopoe, genuis.
ReplyDeleteYou captured a wide variety of beautiful birds. Stunning photos, Shiju.
ReplyDeleteWe never get out that early but I know the lighting is better for many photos. Love seeing the bird eat the fruit! It's amazing to watch birds eating in a natural habitat. Thanks for the photos!
ReplyDeleteYou know your bird names extremely well … the Zitting Cisticola among the entire range of perfect shots was a particular heart-stealer perched on that single blade of grass. :)
ReplyDeleteHermosas imagenes. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThat sunrise is spectacular and so are your birds. I like the landscapes too.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome. You know without me repeatedly telling you just how much I appreciate and admire your photos!! I dream of one day seeing the hoopoe in real time...but for now, I must settle with your beautiful photos!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking time to add your link, sharing with us.
beautiful birds as always. I wish I was a "morning person" but I am not. So I miss a lot of sightníngs I guess.
ReplyDeleteDelightful post as always!
ReplyDeletethe Brahmny kite is always fascinating ~ What a great job you do at capturing the birds especially when they are eating nature's delights for them ` Bravo!

This all goes to prove that early morning is the best birding of all - anywhere in the world.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! The Eurasian Hoopoe is one of my favourite birds. The marigolds are stunning too!
ReplyDeleteStunning sunrise. Great shots of beautiful birds in your outing.
ReplyDeletethe Hoopoe is an interesting looking bird
ReplyDeleteSome day maybe you could share your set-up and how you approach the birds to get the best shots. I am a back yard birder and occasionally get lucky, but I could do much better with my big Canon and a tripod than my smaller Lumix...Michelle
ReplyDeleteThat sunrinse shot is fantastic! #SharonsSouvenirs
ReplyDeleteAnother great collection you never fail
ReplyDeleteHave a sunsettastic week 👍
Not only are your photos always so breathtaking and clear but the variety of birds and plants that you find is just amazing!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely it was that you could get to the farm and then capture such great images. Loved seeing the flowers being grown ...I think they were flowers. Thank you for sharing your blog post for the final #lifethisweek link up…you were part of my blogging history as it was the 280th link up!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to having you link up when I am next back with #lifethismonth on Monday 14 March 2022. Same hours and days open as for #lifethisweek.
Warm wishes,
Denyse.
Lovely photos of a great variety of birds! I particularly like your photos of the hoopoe, a bird I've seen, though only once! The yellow wattled lapwing is a very unusual looking bird!
ReplyDeleteYour captures of the Hoopoe and the field with the marigolds are out of this world. The Yellow "whiskers" of the first bird are very distinctive! Nothing but praise about your post, Shiju! A happy week to you, Emille
ReplyDeleteYour photography skills are amazing! Your photos show such beauty caught in the perfect frame. Oh, thank you so much for sharing such uplifting photos!
ReplyDeleteSo many interesting looking and pretty birds. Always love flower photos. I admire you know so many bird names. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic shots!
ReplyDeleteYour photos remind me more than ever how closely connected we are in the world. This week I saw a Great Egret and a Pipit and a warbler. The same, but different. If only the world would remember that!
Thank you for this feast for the eyes, especially during this time of war.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Marigold fields and the Eurasian Hoopoe is such pretty bird!
ReplyDeleteEvery week I think you could not have more amazing birds and every week you out-do yourself. Your posts always make me so happy just to look at these wonderful birds. The Hoopoe is certainly an interesting species! I don't think I remember seeing it before at least in all these interesting poses. Just a beautiful post -- thank you!
