I returned with a lovely haul of bird photos from my weekend birding trip to Saul Kere lake. Here are the pics...
...
The first wonderful sight that met my eyes was a majestic Brahminy Kite...
...
I clicked one more pic of the solitary bird clutching its morning fish meal...
...
A Green Bee-eater was ready with its sharp beak to hawk some insects for breakfast...
...
I watched a White-throated Kingfisher's behavior for a while...
...
It was impatiently looking around for prey...
...
It swooped down, caught an insect and flew to its partner in cobalt blue outfit. The partner seemed overjoyed...
...
The snack was handed over...
...
An Indian Pond heron flew from its perch atop a tree...
...
From the guttr guttr calls, I could make out that there was no dearth of White-cheeked barbets. I saw the first one...
...
At a distance, a Green bee-eater swooped to catch insects...
...
Also at a distance, a White-throated kingfisher sat flashing its bright colors...
...
Another White-cheeked Barbet...
...
An Ashy Prinia was less noisy for a change...
...
A Black Drongo caught my attention...
...
Another White-cheeked Barbet with unusual plumage appeared...
...
A female Purple-rumped Sunbird became active as the sun peeped from behind the monsoon clouds...
...
A Red-vented Bulbul made an appearance...
...
Also alongside came a Red-whiskered Bulbul...
...
A Green Bee-eater started its insect sorties...
...
Saw a glimpse of a shy White-breasted Waterhen in the swamp...
...
I waited a while for the shy bird to come out. I was rewarded for my patience...
...
A solitary Scaly-breasted Munia was seen next...
Interesting images. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos from your tour.
ReplyDeleteSo many species that we never see here, yes some only in the zoo.
I enjoyed your photos.
This time I didn't post birds but tigers, also nice to see, I hope you come and have a look at my blog.
I wish you a nice weekend.
Greetings Irma
Amazing bird photography.
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI would have been so excited seeing all these beautiful birds. Your photos are always beautiful, such a treat to see.
The Kite is a gorgeous bird, but I love them all! Great post. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post! Take care, enjoy your weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
You must be a very patient man with an outstanding knowledge of how to use your camera. It is always a treat to see your photos. I especially liked the series with the kingfishers. Who doesn't like to see the bee eaters in their glorious plumage. The Waterhen skulking around. I know this type of bird is difficult to view let alone get the marvelous shots you got. The Kite is magnificent.
ReplyDeleteI am getting to that age where I don't think I want to travel so far anymore but when I see your photos of all of these handsome birds I rethink that restricted view.
Thanks again for taking us along on your birding trip.
That was a fine trip out Shiju. Hard to pick a winner from those superb photos but maybe the kite wins with those last views and second place to all those Green Bee Eaters. And the barbets of course because it's a family of birds that we don't have in Europe.
ReplyDeleteHi Shiju! :) You are such a great photographer and your knowledge of birds is so impressive! I love these photos, some birds I have never seen. I love the tuft of feathers atop the Red-whiskered Bulbul! The photos of the green Bea-eater are super, the feathers almost look like tiny white threads, lovely! The Kite is just so majestic.
ReplyDelete...you have so many beautiful images. The Indian Pond heron and the Brahminy Kite are among my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful series of pictures here, Shiju. Better get some of them down to the picture framer!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! Your birds are so colourful...
ReplyDeleteHi Shiju! Someone recently left a comment on my blog: Mind blowing post. I thought that was nice, but also very short. :-) However, those words apply perfectly to this post on Cranium Bolts. Your photography is simply amazing. Are you a professional? I would like to know more about what kind of gear you use. But that doesn't mean I think the gear can make all the difference. It can't. Great photography can only be accomplished (in my opinion) by someone with a great photographic EYE. You definitely have the EYE. So, I hope you will tell us a little more about yourself. Thank you for your kind words on my blog. Best regards from Seattle! John
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not a professional, photography is just a hobby that started from school days in 1992. The gear I use are bit primitive. I use a Canon 6D with a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens. For macro photography, I use a Canon 100 mm Macro lens. I work in the IT industry and get only the weekends to pursue this hobby.
DeleteQue lindo leque de fotografias!
ReplyDeleteParabéns!
Um beijinho!
Segui o seu cantinho!

ReplyDeleteVisiting you and seeing your beautiful bird photos always makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteFantastic bird portraits, with the Kingfishers as a highlight!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant bird shots, it is the beginning Brahminy Kite, the Kingfishers and many more.
ReplyDeleteWow that's an awe inspiring collection of photos!
ReplyDeleteThe Kite really is outstanding! I had to look again to see his catch in the one photo. It just amazes me that there are so many different birds on this earth and what you see is so different than what I see here! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteyou live in an area where the birds are so very colorful!! i have never seen any of these birds except for the bird we call a chickadee!! the colors in the green bee eater were a winner for me...all of your images are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThe Brahminy Kite really is majestic and the White-throated kingfisher is beautiful. I love the colours x
ReplyDeleteThat kite steals the show. What an incredible bird!! Of course ALL your photos are stellar...most I'll never see in my lifetime.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping your week ahead is super. Thanks for linking in. HAPPY BIRDING!
Hi Shiju. I like very much your photo tour. Wonderful serie of birds, beautiful photos. I like the bird of prey. Thank you for visiting my blog. Greetings Caroline
ReplyDeleteso beautiful shots of the majestic Brahminy Kite. Strange that it was not taking off. but maybe you have a very long lens. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Pied Bushchat is so cute, and you even have a tit. Not sure I have sen that before. We have a similar one.
Absolutely stunning photos, I think the green bee-eater and the kite are my favorites. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWow the kite is a beautiful creature x #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteGreat photos from your visit to Saul Kere Lake. That is a majestic looking kite. All the other pretty birds are worth watching. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding photos, all of them, but I think I'm in love with the kite! Gorgeous, majestic bird.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2021/08/some-gentle-wisdom.html
that kite is so beautiful
ReplyDeleteWow! great pics and so clear as always and colourful :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a tweettastic week 👍
Wow !!! These are perfect bird pictures!
ReplyDeleteI admire species of birds unknown to me!
Greetings from Poland !
Wow! What a variety of birds you have there. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteWe have heron and coots here year round. Hummingbird in the summer and Cardinal from spring to fall.
I'm not surprised that you returned from your photo tour satisfied - your yield was really great. I am always thrilled by the multitude of colorful and beautiful birds there are in India. I think the only ones shown today that we also saw on our India travels were the Kingfisher. But we didn't get as close as you did - and so nice that you "caught" a couple at the same time. I find the Brahminy Kite particularly impressive - birds of prey are always a pleasant sight for me.
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy days!
Traude

What a wonderful assortment of colorful and interesting birds! Such diversity in nature. The kite reminds me red tailed hawks that we see here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection. Couldn't choose a favourite but I was fascinated by the length of the kingfishers beak.
ReplyDeleteShiju, these are all incredible (as usual). Your photography is beyond great. Your patience, talent, and (I am guessing) getting to your birding places fairly early in the morning pay off beautifully and I'm grateful for your shares! Thank you. I saw some birds I don't remember seeing on your blog before and some more familiar (but only from your blog, sadly.) I would love to go see them in real life. The Kingfisher is stunning (and a bit scary looking) and of course your portraits of the Kite are perfect. I like your descriptions as well -- especially thinking of the female so happy to see her partner come home with the insect breakfast !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, that kite is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOnce again you come up with some amazing photographs of wonderful birds. The colourful Kingfisher is fabulous! Thank you for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you got to have a weekend of birding. Nature excels at colour. Thanks for linking up for Life This Week. Next week's optional prompt is Shopping and it will be interesting for me to decide what to write! So much has changed in #lockdown this time round. Hope to see you link up too. Cheers, Denyse.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous bird photos ! Most of them I have never seen !
ReplyDeleteI loved this wonderful bird tour. I've never seen any of these.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at how much wildlife you see and capture on your trips! These are just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos as ever. The kite is particularly majestic. I've never seen a kite up close and have never heard of that particular type of kite.
ReplyDelete#mysundayphoto
Fantastic birds and the Black Drongo, every one is pictures.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful birds. Hard to choose which one is the most magnificent. Ps sorry this is such a late comment, life has been a little hectic and I am so behind on catching up with #mysundayphoto
ReplyDeleteOh, Shiju, the brahminy kite looks absolutely majestic - and the photos turned out soo beautiful! And the series of the White-throated Kingfisher and then its partner as well is wonderful. These birds also have such funny faces :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd I can see every single feather on your sensational photos of the Green Bee-eaters. I could go on like that, you brought so many great photos - beautiful, thank you!
All the best and Happy May, Traude
