I wasn't aware of Licious until last Saturday, but a last minute invite from the good people introduced me to this very promising start up company headquartered in Bangalore.
I am really glad I attended the cooking and tasting session.
Here's a photo tour...
The event was held at Slurp Cooking Studio, a cozy setup which is ideal for cooking up some fun...
Licious was started with an aim to elevate the fresh meat shopping experience in Bangalore. At Licious, meat is cleaned and processed in state-of-the-art production units. Abhay Hanjura, the founder of Licious talked about how they are committed to international standards of hygiene. Their 90 minute home delivery turnaround time sounds remarkable...
The meat and marinates looked really neat and fresh...
After a few cooking tips from Chef Joe Manavalan, we were ready for the second part of the meet when participants were split into groups to create dishes with Licious meat and ingredients in the kitchen...
My team chose to make ravioli with prawns in garlic butter sauce. The ingredients were quickly picked...
As luck would have it, my team consisted of Vidya, an accomplished culinary talent and Hrish, a connoisseur of fine food. They took over the show and I had very little to contribute...
Here's my small contribution. I think I did a decent job in stirring the chopped garlic and chili...
Vidya was quick. The dish was taking great shape in just a few minutes...
The raw ravioli is cooked in boiling water...
And in around 10 minutes the first dish of the day was ready. The prawns were perfectly cooked and the garlic butter sauce was seasoned just right...
Meanwhile the other teams were buzzing in controlled chaos...
The lamb chops were looking good. Abhay was ready to pounce on them as soon as they are ready...
Chicken is skewered for Satay at one table...
Caribbean Jerk Chicken was so yummy that the plate was wiped clean in seconds...
The same happened to the lamb chops also...
Fish curry, Carolina Mustard wings and rice...
People started milling around the satay and some of the skewered chicken disappeared even before the team could plate the dish...
Luckily, they were able to save some to finally plate the dish with broccoli, mushroom and carrots...
Lamb Country Captain was really good...
Making Peri Peri Chicken was easy. Just grill the pre-marinated Licious chicken into peri peri spiced goodness...
Apart from fresh meat, Licious also offers an array of marinates with fresh and unique ingredients...

ReplyDeleteThe foods you created look good I could almost smell the flavors. What a marvelous experience and a great team to end up on. I can't believe you could produce the ravioli that quickly - I am not sure I could produce that meal if I had all day :) Any chance you could share the recipe so I could give it a try?
ReplyDeleteIngredients:
Delete2-3 chillies finely chopped
4-5 cloves of Garlic
1kg prawns
Half Lime juice
Half cup fresh cream
2-3 sprigs of thyme
2-3 leaves of sweet basil
Salt
Oil
1 tbs Garlic Butter
1tbs chilli flakes
Marinate the prawns in half lime juice and salt.
Fry the chopped chillies and garlic in very little oil. Add prawns and toss for a minute until the moisture is released. Add chilli flakes and fresh cream. Finish it with chopped thyme, basil and garlic butter. Season it with pepper powder and salt as per your taste.
The raw ravioli were already made by the chef. The ravioli were stuffed with chicken, mozzarella cheese and crushed peppercorns. We just had to cook them in boiling water.
