I have been visiting Saul kere lake repeatedly this season, thanks to the flooded Hoskote lake, my usual birding place. The bird watching experience differs on each occasion, despite the consecutive trips. Here are some sightings from this week's visit...
...
First sighting was of a Grey-headed Swamphen in flight...
...
I focused on an immature Bronze-winged Jacana. It was foraging in the swamp...
...
Also saw a close interaction between an Intermediate Egret, a Glossy Ibis and a Bronze-winged Jacana. I wonder what's their story...
...
I saw a Common Tailorbird spread its tail like fantails. I've never seen this type of display in tailorbirds before...
...
Next I saw a Purple-rumped Sunbird tending to her nestlings...
...
A lone Wood Sandpiper foraged for food...
What a great series of photos of the different types of birds.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy it every time because I see so many species that do not occur here in the Netherlands.
Greetings Irma
Beautiful ones and indeed so different and totally unknown to most of us. Thumbs up for this post again.
ReplyDeleteI think that we all return to the same locations time after time and the experience is rewarding and different on each occasion. The shot of the Common Tailorbird spreading its tail is a great new event, and the nest of the sunbird is quite precious.
ReplyDeleteHello, :=) Another wonderful collection of bird images. I like all the Golden Oriole captures and the juvenile. The Tailorbird is adorable, the way it spreads its tail into a fan shape, and I also think the Goldbacked woodpecker is stunning.
