Jakkur lake has always been a great place for birding. My last visit to this lake was way back in October 2017 when the jogging track around the lake was being renovated. The visit last Sunday was quite nice. Here are some pics...
It was dark when I reached the lake. The moon gave me company as I waited for the sun to wake up...
A flurry of activity as the sun showed up...
A Painted stork was enjoying the rising sun...
I went straight to the peepal tree that hosts a lot of Alexandrine Parakeets...
I watched them flying around screeching their good morning...
Also seen was a jet that took-off from the nearby airport...
I decided to make a full circle around the lake and see the active birds. Jakkur lake is one of the largest lakes of Bangalore...
An Indian Pond-Heron looked engrossed in fishing...
A Green Bee-eater was also seen searching for prey...
A lovely bloom...
A Blyth's Reed Warbler...
Some beauties...
A female Purple-rumped Sunbird caught a spider...
Microphone like flower and fruits...
A common castor butterfly was active as the sun became harsher...
I ended the walk as the sun was beginning to get very warm. Bokeh of sun glare reflected from the water surface...
Very beautiful series. I love the bird against the twilight sun...
ReplyDeleteGreat series of images, as always.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have joined you on that walk. I would have needed a spare SD card. Thank you for a super selection of photos.
ReplyDeleteI indeed enjoyed the walk around the lake...immensely! That first photo if the stork in flight in front of the sun is absolutely magical!

Am impressed you offered up your night to wait for sun rise, so it was nice that you could take so terrific captures of the moon! The parakeet has quite a long tail -a beautiful bird we don't see here:) These bee -eater look quite aggressive - would avoid a nip of their beak! The pink-ish flowers I have never seen either. You even saw a butterfly - Your night and morning was well spent! Many thanks for sharing your awesome captures with All Seasons, an wishing you a lovely week!

Amazing shots!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bird lover so I'm always happy to see your posts!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post Shuju, because of the great birds of course, but also this time the beautiful sky shots. The stork “in front” of the newly risen sun is an amazing shot. All the birds are great, and I especially enjoyed the sunbird with her meal .. and then the nest shot where she went to share it. Beautiful series ... I’m happy you went back to Jakkur Lake.
ReplyDeleteCan only imagine seeing nature at night as well as waking with them to the morning sun. Great, beautiful photos. Really lovely shots.

ReplyDeleteShijun,
ReplyDeleteThe moon is gorgeous - excellent capture! I love the first shot of the stork - fabulous! You captured many brightly colored birds but I think my favorite is the Blyth's Reed Warbler. How sweet it looks! The light refracting on the water creating a bokeh pattern is awesome! Thanks for sharing your mega talents with me. When I grow up someday, maybe I'll take good pictures like you. :)
what a wonderful color, what a diversity! 😍
ReplyDeletehappy WW 😊
