A minor ankle fracture from a twisting injury kept me away from bird watching trips. It is taking a really long time to heal. I recently visited Saul Kere lake. It was a short visit as there's still some pain around the ankle. I was happy to see some migrant birds still hanging around as the season ends. Here are the pic...
...
A female Asian Koel was the first sighting...
...
The male gazed at her from a distant tree...
...
A White-breasted Waterhen flew and perched on a nearby tree...
...
Several Lesser Whistling-Ducks were flying around...
...
Some Lesser Whistling-Ducks were found in the far reaches...
...
...
I saw a Garganey couple dabbling around in the water...
...
The handsome male Garganey...
...
A small flock of Garganeys. Three pairs...
...
And a Bronze-winged Jacana foraged in the shallow water...
... ...
A Wood Sandpiper with his meal...
...
I watched the Garganeys for some more time...
...
...
...
A White-cheeked Barbet with his meal...
...
Another flock of Lesser Whistling-Ducks gave a fitting flypast to end my short outing...
...

Despite your ankle, very nice bird pictures again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds pics
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful series of photos.
ReplyDeleteThe white-cheeked barbet with prey is my favorite.
Good luck with your ankle.
Greetings Irma
I'm so sorry you hurt your ankle -- I'm sure that had to be very painful. As always, your photos are lovely -- so many things I don't see here.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to read that you were injured. I can just imagine you hobbling around the marsh area getting these fabulous photos.
ReplyDeleteThe Jacana is gorgeous. You captured the iridescence perfectly. The Barbet with it's lunch is quite good too. Do be careful out there.
Awesome pictures Shiju!!

I'm glad your ankle is getting better. For a short outing, you managed to take some very nice photos. The Garganeys are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your ankle, I hope you are back to normal soon. Great collection of birds and photos. I do have some favorites like the Whistling Ducks and the Bronze-wing Jacana and the White-cheeked Barbet. They are all beautiful photos and great sightings. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy you day and happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
THat's really sad that your ankle is broken and mending slowly. I wish you a speedy recovery and return to your wonderful photography.

Hi Shiju,
ReplyDeleteI am very happy that you are recovered enough to at least go on a short birdwatching tour! Hopefully the pain will stop soon. Your photos are beautiful again, I find the Garganey couple dabbling around in the water especially cute. I think they will find a lot of food here! It is always particularly exciting to manage shots of birds with their prey - like here the White-cheeked Barbet.
There aren't many animals to see in my current post, but there are holiday shots of Italy.
If you want to see our birding tour to the great bustard courtship (and other birds), click here: https://rostrose.blogspot.com/2022/04/grotrappen-balz-urlaub-zum.html
After this trip and the relatively low usable photo yield, it becomes all the more clear how good and special your photos are!
All the best and happy weekend!

ReplyDeleteso many beautiful species. I really miss the travelling days.
ReplyDeleteI recognise the Garganeys. I had to look it up to see the Swedish name adn I ws right. I have seen it a few times in Sweden but it is quite rare up here. And it is also hard to spot as it is so small. A beautiful bird. Thanks for sharing.
Bellas aves, te mando un beso. Enamorada de las letras

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're healing from your injury. It sounds painful. Love your visit with the birds.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear you fractured your ankle! And it's good to see that you've been able to return to your birding and photography. We've missed you! I always find the biodiversity of your region and your talent at capturing it on film to be fascinating. Frankly, I'm a bit jealous!

So sorry to hear about the ankle injury! I bet it has been frustrating to be on hiatus and probably felt great to get back out there and shoot some great images. Even for a short trip you did see a lot of variety of birds!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful shots especially the close ups :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a tweettastic week 👍
The Garganey couple capture is amusing:) Love to see all these birds on the water side. Glad your ankle is healing (slowly for you) and you can be back outside for a short while:)
ReplyDeleteGood to see you, and your birds back again!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photo captures you get. Love seeing the nature that I don't see around where I live. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you sharing nature photos again! I love the white-cheeked Barbet photo. I love the green color of its feathers!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that your ankle is taking such a long time to heal. Glad you were able to get out and see the birds. What magnificent creatures they are. My favorite is the Bronze-winged Jacana.
ReplyDeleteGreat bird photos. Glad to know that you are healing well, but take it easy. I broke my ankle very badly a few years ago and it had to be operated. It took months until I could walk properly. This kind of injuries make one appreciate functioning feet!

ReplyDeleteThe Whistling Ducks in flight...WOW!
Lovely photos. I pray that you ankle continues to heal! Thanks for inspiring us at Inspire Me Monday at Create With Joy! :-)
