We actually surprised a blue heron in a roadside ditch with cattails as we drove by, and were treated with a good look at it as it flew ahead of us for a short distance before rising above the vegetation to the left and disappearing. Always a thrill when sightings like this occur. Enjoyed your post.

ReplyDeleteWe have great blue herons similar to yours fish the pond. When we had to rescue one that had become entangled in fishing line here, we realized that they only weigh about 8 pounds....Michelle
