We started at 5:30 AM and soon Sujeesh and I were on the newly laid road to Ragihalli...
I was so glad to see the newly asphalted road. A small stretch is still in bad shape as road work is yet to be completed...
Sighting of a Rufous Treepie prompted our first halt. It vanished as soon as we pulled out our cameras. I turned my camera towards the rising sun...
We reached Jaipurdoddi by 7 AM. By now the light was good and I could hear a lot of distinct bird calls. The sun was getting harsher...
A Yellow-billed Babbler welcomed us...
A Bay-backed Shrike flew in...
This particular area proved a great place for sighting a variety of birds. A Common (well, not so common) Iora flew in next...
A Green Bee-eater was active in morning sunlight...
Tracking a darting Blyth's Reed Warbler is most frustrating. Here's what I could capture...
Hope you liked the post. Please post your thoughts in the comments section below...

ReplyDeleteHello,:=) Getting up early paid off. You saw so many beautiful birds and you captures are beautiful, as are all your nature shots.
ReplyDeleteMust be more fun to go birding with a friend (and maybe detect more birds, since there are two pairs of eyes?) You caught a great series of beautiful birds, Shiju! Only of the loveliest I found was the green bee eater. It's colors are so lovely. Will you see different kinds or birds at an evening bird trip? Am curious!
ReplyDeleteTo give a warning ahead, since wordpress completely has done away with the old editor, for All Seasons I may have to go over to the simple copy and paste perma link in your comment (like the rest of the wordpressor people who have a meme/challenge) instead of the photo link list. Will explain more coming Sunday in my post. thank you for this beautiful series of birds for All Seasons, and have an inspiring week, Jesh
Feeding birds are active in the morning and evening. At some places evening birding is better to avoid shooting into the sun.
Delete"liked" yes, "liked" is an understatement!! the birds are so beautiful, i picked several favorites. what an awesome outing!!
ReplyDeleteit pays to get up early!!
Your posts always inspire me to keep trying! I love to try and capture birds/ animals but I feel like I no sooner "find" them through my lens then they fly away.

ReplyDeletePlanning to go there this weekend. Is there any permissions you need to obtain or just drive thru?
Permission is not needed. Be careful, don't go off road as it is a forest with wild animals.
DeleteIt will be nice to know your name.
