Birding at Nandi hills

I went for a short early morning birding trip to Nandi hills, the nearest hill station from Bangalore. Here are the birds I saw...

View from the top...

A pair of Orange-headed thrush was seen having a long face-off...

After a while they changed position but still maintained the aloofness...

Next to be seen was a male Indian paradise flycatcher with its extra long tail...

It was funny to see him bite his own tail...

Long-billed Sunbird...

Tickell's Blue Flycatcher made an appearance...

I waited for a better perch. Soon it flew around and gave various poses...

It also entertained with its clinking call...

Gray Wagtail...

Oriental white-eye...

Ashy drongo...

Indian Blackbird...

Indian blue robin...

A Verditer Flycatcher got blurred due to a blade of grass...

Then it perched on  a tree far away...

White-cheeked Barbet...

A female Indian paradise-flycatcher was quite playful. It flew around and gave many interesting poses...

Another view from the top...

Last bird of the day was an Ultramarine flycatcher who just refused to show its face...

Got a glimpse of its face as it flew away...

Leaving you with a video of the descent from Nandi hills...

I hope you liked the post. Do let me know your feedback in the comments section below...

  9. Left-hand traffic is totally unusual for me.
Here in Germany we turn right. I thought there would be a collision at any moment ;-)
The photos are uniquely beautiful. there is almost no species we have here.
