And birding continues...

After a very satisfying 2018, I look forward to many more birding adventures this year. I am beginning the new year with a post on my spectacular birding trip to Hoskote, Bangalore...

It was still dark when I reached Hoskote lake. The early morning moon looked amazing...

It was a misty morning...

Puppies cuddle to stay cozy...

A lone Pied Kingfisher was trying really hard to locate fish through the mist...

A White-throated kingfisher patiently waited for the light to improve...

Soon, the sun rose to bring the much needed light...

A wood sandpiper was foraging...

Common-hawk cuckoo...

Black-winged stilts...

Grey heron and an intermediate egret...

Bronze-winged jacana...

A cattle egret...

Baya weaver (female)...

I followed a Eurasian Hoopoe who seemed to be foraging for breakfast...

Soon, it located a caterpillar...

As the hoopoe was about to eat the snack, a black drongo dived towards it with the intention to snatch the caterpillar...

The hoopoe unfurls its crest like a fan due to the excitement from the sudden attack and drops the caterpillar...

The drongo happily picks the caterpillar...

Pond heron...

Eurasian cuckoo...

Common Myna...

Common Sandpiper...

Siberian Stonechat (female)...

Siberian Stonechat migrates from eastern Europe during winter...

Blyth's Reed Warbler...

Greater coucal...

Greater coucal in flight...

Ashy Prinia...

Glossy Ibis...

Grey heron...

Long-tailed shrike...

Black-winged kite...

Laughing dove...

A Purple sunbird in its spring outfit...

Oriental magpie robin...

Western yellow wagtail?

Indian roller...

Spot-billed pelicans...

Pond heron...

White-browed bulbul...

A black drongo hitch-hiking on a buffalo...

Brahminy kite...

Ashy drongo...

  15. It is hard for me to believe you are talking about Bangalore here. Bangalore for me used to be about traffic jams, potholes and polluted lakes. Thanks for such fabulous photos of the birds.
