Baking Masterclass at Courtyard by Marriott

What is more pleasurable? The joy of seeing someone biting into a slice of cake or the joy in making it?
The Baker's Basic masterclass  at Momo CafĂ© gave me an opportunity to experience both.  Here's a photo tour of the fun morning at Courtyard by Marriott, Bangalore. I have also included the recipes from the masterclass...

Baker's Basic is an initiative by Courtyard by Marriott to impart baking skills to the guests...

The masterclass was conducted by Pastry Chef Rahul Kumar...

Chef Rahul talked about one of my favorite baking ingredients, chocolate. The percentage of cocoa determines how strong chocolate is.

At 44% cocoa, this one was more to my liking...

A welcome sweet made with a combination of dark and white chocolate...

Some essential reading on the subject...

The welcome drink, Ferrero Rocher shake was delicious...

I did love connecting with fellow bloggers. Attired like a chef, we were all excited to hit the kitchen..

Some handy tools...

After some more selfie fun, we headed to the kitchen for some actual baking...

The kitchen was state of the art...

As soon as we entered, a pretty lady chef welcomed us with the most amazing red velvet...

Our first bake was Focaccia bread, an Italian bread with olive oil and herbs...

Focaccia bread turned out really good...

Here's the recipe...

Next we made New York Cheese Cake...

After plating...

Here's the recipe...

Finally the Tiramisu...

Here's the recipe...

The Croissants from the bakery were meltingly soft in my mouth...

After the baking experience, we were served one lavish lunch. Here are some of the stuff I liked...

Prawn salad...

Grilled pepper salad...

Five spice fish...

Green pea chaat...

Tenderloin with beans and tomato salad...

Watermelon with feta salad...

Tawa Machhi...

A variety of mezze dips...

Pumpkin and Peanut Quiche...

Chicken Lasagne...

Honey garlic roasted chicken...

Tandoori Aloo...

Ice tea - Berry blast, Ginger, Hibiscus, Kiwi and Cinnamon...

  Pineapple Frangipane...

Strawberry Pastry...

Overall it was great fun. I learned a few new tips. The next Baker's Basic session is on 30th April. Leaving you with the beautiful smile of one of the participants...

Rohan turns two

Rohan turned two years old this week. We recently dressed him up like a girl and the naughty brat showed such poise as soon as he got into the girlie outfit...

Swiss ice creams at Movenpick

The Mövenpick Ice Cream Boutique at Lavelle Heights in Bangalore features a range of 18 ice cream & sorbet flavours, ice cream dessert creations, gourmet coffee & tea, sundaes, shakes, fat free refreshments and much more. I was there with a few friends to check out their new menu.
Here's a photo tour...

We started with a delicious chocolate fondant with a soft chocolate centre topped with chocolate sauce and served with a scoop of Mövenpick strawberry  ice cream...

A rich chocolate and walnut brownie dredged with icing sugar and topped with chocolate sauce, served with a scoop of walnut ice cream.  The subtle coconut flavoring made me love this creation...

From its inception, Mövenpick ice cream applied an “all natural” policy to its range of ice creams. All Mövenpick products are processed in a natural manner and made without artificial additives, flavourings or artificial colours. The reward is a subtlety that no ordinary ingredients can match. all Mövenpick products are made only from their factories in Switzerland...

Light golden pancakes drizzled with indulgent Canadian Maple syrup, served with two scoops of Maple Walnut ice cream...

Some self reflection does a soul good especially when you are indulging in one of the deadliest diet sins...

But, I was undeterred. No amount of self reflection can stop me from eating the freshly baked, hot Belgian waffles drizzled with decadent chocolate sauce and sprinkled with rich chocolate shavings, served with Swiss Chocolate and Stracciatella ice creams...

Freshly made cones...

Freshly baked, light golden pancakes served with Swiss Chocolate and Hazelnut ice creams, drizzled with decadent chocolate sauce and sprinkled with rich chocolate shavings...

Beautiful nail art of one of my co-diners...

Subtly flavoured, crisp, light macaroon shells sandwiched with complementing flavours of ice cream, create a unique and delectable taste sensation like no other...

They have an offer on, at present, of one plus one on all hot and cold coffees (All made from Belgian coffee beans)...

It was one happy experience. Leaving you with two pictures of one of my co-diners...

What joy...
